1. About us
Laserfuchs is a brand of Picotronic GmbH.
Smart foxes shop with us!
Thanks to an automated shop system, consumers can order from us at low cost.
What is Picotronic all about?
At Laserfuchs.de, you can quickly and easily order our affordable lasers. Picotronic is aimed at industrial and medical needs. All products come from the same company and are tested to the same standards.
Why are your modules so inexpensive?
We don't run expensive advertisements, we have a sophisticated inventory system, and we know the laser market very well. Additionally, we produce in large quantities and pass on the favorable bulk price to you. Some industrial lasers from Picotronic are diverted to Laserfuchs and passed on to you with the favorable bulk price.
2. All about lasers
Are there differences between red, green, and blue? Or do they just look nice?
The different wavelengths have different physical properties. Green lasers are perceived best by the human eye and are used wherever the human eye serves as a detector. Additionally, green lasers offer small divergence angles and very good beam profiles, meaning that at greater distances, the spot is smaller than a comparable red one. Red lasers have the advantage in image processing and detection with digital cameras, as cameras have higher sensitivity in the red and infrared wavelength range. Blue lasers complement our laser range. They are suitable for school experiments and tests.
I have a red laser. Can I turn it green with filters?
Filters to change color like with light bulbs cannot be used with lasers. Laser light, unlike light bulbs, emits only in one color, and therefore no color filters can be used to cut out specific color ranges.
What do you mean by "fixed focus" and "focusable"?
Lasers with fixed focus have the smallest possible spot size or line thickness only at the specified working distance. Before and behind the focus, the beam expands again. The focusable modules can be focused from about 5 cm to several meters.
Can the laser beam be seen in your modules?
Without aids, the laser beam itself is hard to see. Only the projected line, cross, or dot. In complete darkness, the beam of green lasers can be seen from 5-10mW.
My laser does not project a sharp line/cross. Is it broken?
Probably not. Do you have a focused module or a freely focusable laser? Make sure you have the correct working distance. Fixed focus means that the line is only minimally thin at that distance. With focusable lasers, the focus can be adjusted by turning the optics to the desired distance.
How do I wire the laser? Do I possibly need special connectors and power sources?
Pay attention to the specified supply voltage. Many modules operate on 3V DC. Here, you could use commercial AA batteries as a power source or connect a ready-made battery pack, such as our LFBATT.
Otherwise, the rule is: All lasers are delivered ready to connect and just need to be connected with the correct power supply. Also, make sure to observe the correct polarity. You can find more information in the respective data sheet.
What protection class do your lasers have?
That depends on the laser module. We try to achieve at least IP54 with our modules. If you want precise information about your laser, you can simply call us.
My green laser takes a few minutes to reach its power. Is that normal?
Give the laser a minute, then it should be operating at its full output power. Ambient temperature and humidity can affect the warm-up phase. If the laser has not reached its full power after 3 minutes, we should take a closer look at the module.
I found a laser in your shop. How far does it shine?
That depends on the external light influences. In the dark, you will certainly be able to see the spot better than in daylight at the same distance.
As a rule of thumb, you can say:
(650nm daylight, dot): 1mW = 10m range
(650nm daylight, line): 1mW = 0.3m range
(532nm daylight, dot): 1mW = 100m range
(532nm daylight, line): 1mW = 1m range
I want to project my point onto a distant wall. What should I pay attention to?
Safety, of course! Mark the point of beam entry with a warning sign or the supplied warning sticker. Attach this to the beam outlet of the laser. No one can know that a laser is in operation.
What are the lighting conditions? Ambient light can significantly reduce visibility. Keep in mind that the spot or line thickness will be larger at 10m than at 1m distance.
If you still want good visibility and the smallest possible spot, we recommend our green laser modules with 520nm or 532nm.
How can I mount the laser on my circular saw?
We offer solid aluminum mounts for all laser diameters. Compact, adjustable, and easy to mount.
I want to integrate a laser into my setup, but I don't know how.
If you are unsure about integrating it into your system, we are happy to provide tips. Whether additional optical or mechanical components are needed, together we can find a solution. A small sketch, photo, or description can quickly help us assist you.
I am looking for a laser for a clean cut with my circular saw.
For this purpose, we can offer you the plug-ready LH650-16(16x90)-NT-MOUNT. The mount and power supply are included in the set. This module has proven itself thousands of times and is also used in the professional field.
Are the lasers waterproof?
We cannot guarantee 100% waterproofness, but they do offer some protection against splashing water.
Can your modules also engrave or burn?
No. We do not offer lasers in these power classes.
635nm and 650nm, both red! But why are there price differences?
The price difference is due to the more complex production of 635nm semiconductor lasers. An important difference is visual perception. The human eye is about twice as sensitive to 635nm as to 650nm. This simply means: Less power with the same visibility and therefore lower risk potential.
And what's the difference between green and red?
Green lasers are used whenever you want to perceive the beam with the eye and need high visibility and contrast ratio. The human eye has its greatest sensitivity in the green spectral range. Due to the physical properties and construction of green lasers, they have better beam qualities and can be more finely focused.
3. Laser Safety
How safe are your lasers?
Our modules and diodes are constantly tested and certified in-house by trained personnel. We have been working closely with our suppliers for many years and know that we can rely on their expertise. Nevertheless, we inspect every laser ourselves. A 100% inspection of all goods is absolutely mandatory. No laser leaves without being tested. And lasers from gray imports are not an option for us.
Who inspects your lasers?
We do it ourselves! It's not that we don't trust anyone else, but because it's the only way we can ensure that what's stated is actually what's inside. We strictly test according to EU guidelines and current standards. Our quality assurance operates on a four-eye principle to ensure that no mistake goes unnoticed.
What should I consider when handling my laser?
Basically, it must be said: Lasers are not toys! and they should be treated with the same potential danger as a knife. The danger comes from improper handling. Follow the safety advice and be mindful of your actions, and the risk is minimized. Always be aware of your surroundings and inform others that you are using a laser. With lasers of class 1, 1M, 2, 2M, there's nothing further you need to consider.
Is my laser dangerous to the eyes?
Any laser above class 1 poses a risk to the eyes. Most of the lasers we sell to you do not have high output power and fall into class 1, 1M, 2, 2M, and occasionally 3R and 3B. You do not need to be afraid of immediate blindness if you are dazzled by a reflection. However, you should always be careful and never deliberately look directly into the beam!
The scattered light of my laser on my workpiece is very bright.
Can my eyes be injured?
For a direct threat, most of our lasers are too weak. Nevertheless, distance and ambient light should be considered.
The greater the distance of the eyes from the laser point or line, the lower the risk. Try adjusting the ambient light. If the workspace is too dark, the pupil enlarges and more light reaches the retina. If you are still unsure, we are happy to advise you extensively on the safe use of lasers.
Do I need laser safety glasses for working?
And can I get them from you as well?
We do not carry laser safety glasses in our range. However, we are happy to advise you on purchasing and provide recommendations for your use. Safety glasses and protective clothing are not mandatory in laser classes 1 and 2.
For laser classes 3 and 4, you should obtain information specific to your laser.
Am I required to mount warning notices?
For laser classes 1 and 2, you do not need to mount additional warning notices. Beyond laser class 2, warning notices are mandatory. Affix the supplied warning notice to the laser's exit opening to mark it. All lasers are delivered with a warning notice as standard. Nevertheless, it does no harm to add additional warning notices. The work area for class 3 and 4 lasers must be clearly designated.
How are the laser classes specified and measured?
We adhere to the prescribed standards, and new modules are scrutinized by us. Here you can find more information on laser safety: More info on laser safety.
4. Service, Order, and Shipping
I need a declaration of conformity. Where can I get this?
We can issue a certificate for any laser. Just give us a call.
I found a laser in the shop, but a specific parameter does not fit!
No problem at all. In 95% of cases, we can find a customized solution with you. Maybe the module you desire is even in stock with us. We cannot display all products in our online shops. If you have any questions, give us a call, and we will find a solution!
Do I have to register my module with an authority?
Laser classes 1, 1M, 2, and 2M do not require registration. Classes 3, 3R, 3B, and 4 must be reported to the employers' liability insurance association if they are used operationally. If you are unsure, give us a call; we will be happy to advise you.
How quickly can you deliver? And what if an item is not available?
Almost all products that we offer in the shop we have in large quantities on hand and can be shipped the same day. If a laser is sold out, replenishment arrives within a few days. In the worst case, reproduction takes 4 weeks, but this rarely happens. If we need to manufacture a product specifically for you, delivery times must be determined accordingly but usually are between 4-5 weeks.
I have a very special request. Can you fulfill it for me?
Contact us. We try to fulfill every request.
I am interested in DOEs, but there is nothing that I could use.
Is there a possibility to make something custom?
Here, too, we have been working with a good partner for a long time. Send us a sketch and the specifications, and we will see what can be done.
How and where can you buy your products?
Here in the Laserfuchs shop at picotronic.de and on Amazon. Orders can also be placed via email, fax, phone, letter, or in person. We just need the article name, quantity, and your contact information.
My laser is broken. What should I do?
Never try to open and repair the laser yourself! Electrical discharges in the module can lead to light flashes from the diodes. The inside of lasers is much less exciting than you think.
What if my laser gets dirty?
The lens can be cleaned with microfiber or glasses cleaning cloths. If any liquids or dirt get into the laser, you should not attempt the cleaning yourself. Laser diodes are very sensitive to electrostatic discharges.
How can I dispose of old batteries?
Either in the specially designated disposal bins or you can send the old batteries back to us. We are legally obligated to accept old batteries:
